The biker pilgrimage

Well, it's not hard to tell that we are near Sturgis, SD. There are
just as many bikes on the rode as cars. These hearty travelers enter
each bar in their deeply creased leathers with beet red faces and the
well-worn look of a road less traveled.

Kyle and I stayed in a cabin outside Deadwood last night. In a futile
attempt to get cell phone service, I walked up one of the paths to a
small lodge - part of this cabin grouping. The path was named
Shovelhead Way, an homage to a popular motorcycle engine. And on the
lodge, in Harley Davidson's orange and black "team colors", two
plaques read "Live to ride" and "Ride to live".
